AI Agent to Reply to Google Reviews for Your Restaurant (2026 Step-by-Step)

By Puntivo Editorial Team · Last verified: · Contains affiliate/referral links

TL;DR: Have a personal AI agent check your Google reviews every day and draft a reply to each one, then you approve. #1 Grok Bot can run this as a daily routine on its own cloud computer: it signs into your Google Business Profile, drafts replies in your voice, and waits for your OK. #2 Muse works well too, asks before sending anything, and runs on your phone, web, or WhatsApp. You need a verified Business Profile to reply, Google checks each reply against its content policies (usually within 10 minutes, sometimes up to 30 days), and the reviewer gets notified (Google help). Why replying matters, and why owners fall behind

What you need first

  1. A verified Google Business Profile. Google only lets verified businesses reply (how replies work).
  2. Your reply rules, written once: who signs replies (for example "Maria, owner"), your tone, how to invite unhappy guests to contact you (phone or email), and things never to say (no refunds promised in public, no arguing, no guest details).
  3. An agent: Grok Bot (free trial with a usage credit and 7-day window; included with Premium or higher on The X Subscription, SuperGrok, eligible Cursor plans, or a Grok Business seat) or Muse (free with a usage limit and a card required to start; Power $20/mo; Maximum $100/mo; not available everywhere yet, 18+). Prices checked Oct 15, 2026.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Sign the agent into Google with the account that manages your Business Profile, on the agent's own cloud computer. If you share manager access with staff, consider giving the agent its own manager login.
  2. Paste your reply rules into the agent's instructions (prompt 1 below).
  3. Save a daily routine for the morning after service, for example 10 am.
  4. Approve in one pass. The agent lists each review with its draft reply. Approve, edit, or skip. Keep approvals on, because replies are public.
  5. Handle the hard ones yourself. Anything mentioning food safety, an injury, staff by name, or a legal threat goes to you, not the agent.
  6. Flag fake or abusive reviews through Google instead of arguing in a reply. Google lets you report reviews that break its content policies.

Copy-paste prompts

1. The daily review routine (Grok Bot)

Every day at 10 am, open the Google Business Profile for [RESTAURANT NAME, CITY] and go to Read reviews.
For every review from the last 2 days that has no reply yet, draft a reply that follows my rules below. Do NOT post anything yet.
Send me a list: stars, reviewer first name, a one-line summary of the review, and your draft reply.
After I approve, post only the replies I approved, exactly as approved.
Move to a "Needs owner" list (no draft) any review that mentions illness, food safety, injury, a staff member by name, a refund demand, or legal action.
My rules: [SIGN-OFF], [TONE], [CONTACT FOR UNHAPPY GUESTS], never promise refunds or discounts in public, never mention a guest's order or visit details they didn't post, under 60 words.

2. Five-star reply that doesn't sound copied

Write a reply to this 5-star review: "[REVIEW TEXT]". Thank them by first name, mention one specific thing they liked, and invite them back for [SEASONAL DISH / EVENT]. Under 45 words. Don't repeat phrases from these earlier replies: [PASTE 3 RECENT REPLIES].

3. Calm reply to a 1-star or 2-star review

Write a calm, non-defensive reply to this review: "[REVIEW TEXT]". Apologize for their experience without admitting fault on specifics, say what we're doing about it in one sentence ([WHAT YOU'RE CHANGING, if anything]), and invite them to contact [NAME] at [PHONE/EMAIL] to make it right. No excuses, no arguing, under 70 words.

4. A review you think is fake

This review doesn't match any visit we can find: "[REVIEW TEXT]". Write a short, polite public reply (under 40 words) saying we can't find a record of the visit and inviting them to contact us at [CONTACT]. Don't accuse the reviewer of anything. Also list which Google content policy it might break so I can decide whether to report it.

5. Weekly review recap for the team (Muse or Grok Bot)

Summarize this week's Google reviews for [RESTAURANT]: average stars, the 3 most-praised items, the 3 most common complaints, and any staff shout-outs. Write it as a short note I can read at Monday's pre-shift meeting.

FAQ

Can an AI agent reply to Google reviews for my restaurant? Yes. A personal agent like Grok Bot or Muse can sign into your Google Business Profile in its own browser, draft replies, and post the ones you approve. Your profile must be verified before Google lets you reply.

Should I let the agent post replies automatically? We don't recommend it. Replies are public, appear as your business, and notify the reviewer, so keep the approval step on. It usually takes a few minutes a day.

How long until my reply shows up? Google reviews replies against its content policies. Google says this usually takes up to 10 minutes but can sometimes take up to 30 days.

Can I edit or delete a reply later? Yes. In your Business Profile, open Read reviews and choose Edit under your reply, where you can also delete it.

Which is better for review replies, Grok Bot or Muse? Grok Bot (#1) is the better fit for a hands-off daily routine because it reruns saved workflows on a schedule. Muse (#2) is a strong choice if you'd rather approve drafts from your phone or WhatsApp. Both ask before posting.
